Dr. John W. Gruendel, Jr.
Dr. John W. Gruendel, Jr. is a 1975 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, with a Certificate of Maxillofacial Prosthetics from the Eye and Ear Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Gruendel currently serves as a clinical instructor and formal lecturer at Allegheny General Hospital, where he maintains an affiliation.
Dr. Gruendel is a past president of the Pennsylvania Prosthodontic Association, Western Pennsylvania Prosthodontic Association, and the East End Dental Society. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Odontological Society of Western Pennsylvania, and Pittsburgh Dental Research.
Dr. Gruendel has presented several papers to local organizations, including the Pennsylvania Dental Association and the Pittsburgh Dental Research Club. Topics addressed have included oral management of the chemotherapy patient, prosthetic management of the staple bone plate, maxillofacial prosthetics, and dental care of the irradiated head and neck patient.
Dr. Troy Eans
Dr. Troy Eans is a proud Pittsburgh native, growing up just south of the city. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg where he received his bachelor degree. Dr. Eans then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine for his formal dental education. He elected to spend an additional three years at Pitt where he received a certificate of Advanced Training in Prosthodontics.
Dr. Eans was trained in crown and bridge, removable prosthetics, and has extensive training in implant dentistry. He enjoys working step by step with all aspects of patient care. In his free time, Troy enjoys scuba diving, water skiing, and being outdoors.
Dr. Troy Eans is both humbled and honored to have been named a 2019 honoree as America’s Best Young Dentists in Incisal Edge Magazine’s “40 under 40,” the leading lifestyle magazine for dental professionals nationwide. Dr. Eans was nominated by industry experts from across the country, vetted by an independent panel, and was selected to represent the best of dentistry today and the promise of even better dentistry tomorrow. Dr. Eans is a past president of the Pennsylvania Prosthodontics Association and currently teaches dental residents at Pitt in the graduate prosthodontics department. Dr. Eans has also co-authored a chapter in Contemporary Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a textbook used in most dental schools around the world, entitled “Implant Treatment: Advanced Concepts & Complex Cases.”
Dr. Richard M. Boles
Dr. Boles is very pleased to have recently joined the practice of Drs. Werrin and Gruendel. He is a lifelong Pittsburgh Native. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School, he devoted his career to his private practice in both the North and South Hills of Pittsburgh for twenty-five years. He is now part of our Dentist Pittsburgh PA team.
Dr. William H. Young
Dr. William H. Young is a lifelong native of Pittsburgh, growing up in Allison Park as the middle of five children. He is a third generation dentist following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. William Young, mother, Dr. Christine Rylands Young, and grandfather, Dr. Robert Rylands. Dr. Young is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where he received his bachelors degree in Pre-Dentistry. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine for his formal dental education.
Dr. Young elected to do an additional year of training at the Pittsburgh VA Hospital in Aspinwall, working with our country’s veterans. He spent this year furthering his skills in all facets of dentistry including crown and bridge, removable prosthetics, periodontics, endodontics, and implant procedures. He is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Pennsylvania Dental Association.
Dr. Young currently resides in the Shadyside area where he enjoys all things Pittsburgh, including sporting events, concerts, and local restaurants. In his free time, he loves golfing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
