Whether sleep apnea and snoring keeps you up at night, or maybe a nagging symptom of periodontal disease, we can help get you back on track to better dental health.

Dental Hygiene

Maintaining good teeth and healthy gums doesn’t only require frequent visits to your dentist. Effective and sustained dental health starts at home with proper brushing and flossing habits to help prevent cavities, gingivitis and periodontal disease.

Effective brushing technique starts with a good toothbrush. Select one that has soft, rounded bristles that won’t irritate your gums. Every time you brush your teeth, be sure to clean the inner and outer surfaces, as well as the chewing surfaces. Your tongue also needs brushing to reduce bacteria that causes bad breath. Electric toothbrushes do a better job of removing plaque that forms on tooth surfaces. Your dental hygienist will be happy to show you the proper angle for and techniques to good brush with manual and electric toothbrushes.

Brush your teeth at least twice per day and floss at least once per day. Taking a sufficient amount of time to brush teeth is just as important as brushing itself. The most common mistakes our dental hygienists see in daily rituals are patients simply not brushing long enough. Proper brushing takes a minimum of two minutes. It’s also important to replace your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head at least every three months to ensure that you continue to clean teeth properly.
